Obituaries

of Chelsea, age 98, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born September 1, 1916 in Oakley, Michigan, the daughter of Alphonse & Agnes (Kuchar) Caudy.


  Agnes worked for her dad at St. Johns Laundry.  She was a member of the Sisters of the House of the Good Shepherd, first in Dearborn Heights, then at St. Gerard in Detroit.  Agnes attended St. Joseph Church in St. Johns when she was young, and St. Mary in Chelsea.  She moved to Chelsea Retirement Community 14 years ago, where she spent a lot of time helping people in the nursing center.  Agnes was always caring for others.  She was kind and loving to her entire family.

 Survivors include a step-son, Kent (Pamela Byrnes) Brown of Chelsea; step-daughter Vicki (Dan) Webster of Pinckney; a brother, Joseph (Bernice) Caudy Sr.; two sisters, Therese (Bill) Van Wormer and Margaret (Peter) Klein.  She was preceded in death by three husbands, Victor Stephens, Lyman Ringle, Victor Brown; her step-son, Bruce; three brothers, John, Alphonse, Vincent; and three sisters, Mary Fox, Anna Kusnier, and Rose Wilson.

  A Funeral Mass was held Thursday, February 5, 10:30 am at Chelsea Retirement Community, Chelsea, with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating.  A graveside service will be held in the spring at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Retirement Community Foundation, 805 W. Middle St, Chelsea, MI 48118.  Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
