of Chelsea, MI, formerly of Sterling, IL, age 88, died peacefully with her daughter at her side on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born December 2, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William & Delpha (Russell) Gerhart. Rosemary moved to Chelsea in 2003, coming from Sterling, IL. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Rosemary worked as a realtor, and volunteered at Community General Hospital in Sterling, IL. She resided at CRC since 2003 where she worked in the gift shop for a few years. Rosemary was an avid reader. Thanks to Chelsea Library volunteers!
On August 22, 1945, she married Malvin Bendon in Norfolk, Nebraska, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2005. Survivors include a daughter, Paulette (H.P.) Bendon Grotrian of Ann Arbor; one grandson, Jonathan P. Grotrian; and a niece & nephew of Wrangell, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kevin Lee Bendon, and her sister, Glendoris Privett.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 11, 10:00 am at the Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel, with Rev. Lois McCullen Parr officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to UMRC Foundation, 801 W. Middle St, Chelsea, MI 48118.
