Donald Keith Lamphere

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Cadillac, MI, age 92, died peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his home. He was born February 21, 1931 in Cadillac, MI, the son of Alfred C. & Mary Belle (Lanning) Lamphere.  

Don graduated from Cadillac High School in 1948. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952-54. Don attended Central Michigan College, where he obtained his Bachelors (1958) and Masters degrees (1962). He was a teacher and Principal at Suttons Bay and Cadillac Area Schools. Don was an active member of Temple Hill Baptist church in Cadillac, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, deacon, mission boards, building committee, and as a pastor of a mission church. Since 2017, he attended Chelsea Church of the Nazarene. He was also involved in Gideons International for more than 40 years. Don and Hilma enjoyed wintering in Mercedes, TX from 1991 to 2015.

Theresa "Terri" (Schreiner) Curtis

Age 84, died Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility. She was born March 18, 1939 in Adrian Michigan, the daughter of Raymond Joseph & Grace Ann (Bangert) Schreiner.

Terri graduated from High School in Tiffin OH, then earned her Bachelors degree from Bowling Green University. She went on to earn a Masters Degree in Science Education from EMU and another one from WMU. She was a Physical Education teacher for many years in the Chelsea School District retiring in 1994. After retirement, she and David moved up North to Gladwin, and she was a substitute teacher in Beaverton & Gladwin School Districts. She taught Drivers Ed in all three school districts. Terri loved playing and coaching tennis. Terri was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, and later she was very active at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and helped with events. Terri was a voracious reader, and used the library extensively. She was very kind, donating to charities and churches.

Joe Schnople

Joseph Frank Schnople was born in Bay City, MI November 2, 1920, the fifth of seven children born to Benjamin and Mary (Holomek) Schnople. He died November 22, 2023 in Jackson, MI.  

Joe graduated from Bay City Central High School. He worked for Defoe Shipbuilding Company in Bay City, and became a journeyman electrician. He married Garnetta Weaver in 1941. He enlisted in the US Army in 1944 and served during WWII with the 34th Red Bull Division in Africa and Italy from 1944-1946.

Patricia Barbara Fancy

of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Farmington Hills, age 86, died Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at University Living in Ann Arbor. She was born September 4, 1937, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of William Jeffery & Helen Jean (Mack) Perry.

Pat was a member of the American Bar Association and had a productive career as an attorney for Barris, Sott Denn & Driker, GM, and Comerica Bank. She earned an undergraduate degree in Journalism and her law degree, both from Wayne State University. She was a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada. She was passionate about nature and gardening, cats, travel, and ice skating. Pat had a great love of reading. She lived at Silver Maples of Chelsea until March of 2023.

Marie Grace Barnsdale

of Ann Arbor, Michigan, age 73, passed away November 29, 2023, at Chelsea Retirement Community Towsley Village Memory Care under the care of Arbor Hospice. She will be missed by many.

The angels picked her up and took her to her forever home with the Lord and departed family and friends forever.

She was born July 27, 1950, in Bethesda, Maryland, the daughter of William “Edward” & Barbara (Powell) Thompson.

Marie graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1968, then attended Towson State College. After college she moved to Michigan and continued her education at Eastern Michigan University.
